Stage 1 – Route Napoléon
Towns & Villages en route, in order from the start at Golfe Juan:
The highest point on the Route Napoléon is Col Bayard, at 1,246 meters (4,088 feet). This summit is located north of the alpine city of Gap. Scenic views, overlooking the south.

Stage 2 – Grenoble to Massif Central

Follow the Isère river out of Grenoble as far as Romans-sur-Isère

- Saint-Romans
Then we can either follow the Isère (via the city of Valence) until it flows into the Rhone, which is the longer route. Or cut across country to Le Bourg on the D104 where we cross the river Rhone. (some hills)
Le Bourg is at 365m – we then have to climb into the hills!
The we head for Saint-Lager-Bressac and Veyras and up to Col de Sarasset (views) The elevation of Col de Sarasset is 1,207 meters (3,960 feet). It is situated on a very small mountain road.
